Paul Affleck has been a professional golfer for twenty years - during that time he has experienced the incredible high and low extremes that only the sport of golf seems to expose us to.
In 2002 he became an invaluable member of the Instinctive Golf Team, and when was asked why he had joined, he stated, "because I believe it is quite simply the most empowering and effective way to learn golf".
As a PGA Tour Professional he played with Europe's best golfers in over 200 European tour events, including 3 Open Championships, and represented his country, Wales, on 2 occasions in the Alfred Dunhill Cup at St Andrews.
Paul joined Instinctive Golf so he could be part of what he believes to be the most effective way to learn golf. Through his own golfing experiences he realised that golf coaching was far less about giving information to the pupil and far more about developing the pupil's skill. He now believes Instinctive Golf is the future of golf coaching and the way in which every golfer can most effectively gain more skill and thus more enjoyment in their golf.
Paul is now part of the R&A's Development Team committed to promoting golf in countries such as Venezuela and Bolivia. As part of the 2005 programme Paul played La Paz, the highest golf course in the world, and during the trip he holed a 4 wood for an albatross two on a 600 yard par 5. The ball does travel a very long way at 5000 feet above sea level, but nevertheless it was still a magnificent piece of skill.

The Golf Foundation’s Development Team has expertise in creating educational play activities for children and has produced more than thirty different games around Tri-Golf that are presented in the form of activity cards. These make it possible for teachers to introduce golfing concepts and skills through fun games rather than technical instruction. They also enable teachers to use golf as a way of encouraging learning in other areas; for example, math’s, from scoring, literacy and citizenship (golf is a game of honesty and self-regulation).
The games include a ‘Simon Says’ style game that introduces basic golf terminology, a ‘Divots’ game which teaches care of the course in a fun way, and ‘Bullseye’ which helps to develop distance control and accuracy.
In conjunction with Gloucestershire Golf Partnership, a seminar with Dave Alred will be held at The Kendlshire Thursdy 7th July. Dave is renowned for his Psychology work with Johnny Wilkinson and luke Donald.
Very good presentation and feedback comments received included:
'Really enjoyed the evening, good venue, good presentation and Dave Aldred was fantastic. I thought it was very informative and enjoyed listening to what Dave had to say. Will look forward to the next evening/event.'
